The Colosseum in Rome Opens a New Tourist Path
Colosseum tourist attractions in Rome, Italy, are preparing to open a new route for tourists to enjoy. The lower part of the colosseum, which is a cage for wild animals and rooms for prisoners as well as the road leading to the battle arena, has been able to visit Friday 2 July 2021 after a long renovation.
More than 80 archaeologists, architects and engineers worked on the 15 thousand m2 hypogeum area for two years. According to Diego della Valle, head of Tod's, the company that funded the renovation of the colosseum, the work was carried out in the hope of bringing tourists back to the historic site.
This is the second part of the renovation of the Colosseum in a total of three stages that have been planned for eight years. Tod's disbursed funding of up to 25 million euros to finance this project. Della Valle said it was important for companies to make themselves able to help the nation.
Currently, the authorities have opened a new pathway in the Colosseum that visitors can walk along 160 meters. This access is new and has not been previously opened to visitors.
