Bruges is a city in northwestern Belgium which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is known as the city of canals, so Bruges is often referred to as the "Venice of the North".
In contrast to the city of Brussels, Dutch is more widely spoken in this city than French, perhaps due to its area being closer to the Netherlands.

To reach Bruges from Brussels, you can choose one of the fastest modes of transportation: train.
Train tickets can be purchased at Bruxelles Central Station for 15.6 Euros round-trip, with a travel time of less than two hours.
In general, when traveling to cities in Europe, the main goal is the centrum or part of the city center, because usually the city center of every European city has a different uniqueness.

From the Bruges train station to the centrum, you can walk for 20 minutes, or 10 minutes by bus for 3 Euros. The streets in downtown Bruges are quite narrow, so cars are rarely encountered. There are more pedestrians, cyclists, and horse-drawn carriages, so it really feels like being in the Middle Ages, moreover the streets in the city center are paved with stone, thus amplifying the impression.
Once you arrive in Bruges, you will feel a calm and comfortable atmosphere, not many motorized vehicles passing by in this city.

In the city center, there are many unique places to see, such as:
  1. Statues of Jan Breydel and Pieter de Coninck who are Flemish heroes.
2. The Belfry, an 83-meter-high bell tower with 366 steps.
3. The Groeninge Museum which exhibits works of art by Flemish artists.
4. Torture Museum aka torture museum exhibiting torture tools from the Middle Ages.
5. Begijnhof, which is a park with trees with a unique shape.
6. Minnewater, a rectangular lake with a very romantic atmosphere.
7. Our Lady's Church and St. Cathedral Magnificent Salvators; etc

There are also many cafes and restaurants selling Belgian specialties, such as mussels or mussels, and one thing you should definitely try when visiting Belgium is: Belgian waffle. There are also many chocolatiers selling Belgian chocolate. Souvenir shops are also easy to find if you are looking for souvenirs from Brugge. Many people recommend travelers to visit the Church of Our Lady or Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk for the 4 Euro entrance fee.

This church is interesting to visit because it houses one of the works of the Italian artist from 1501, Michelangelo, the statue of the Madonna and Child. It is the only work of art brought out of Italy during Michelangelo's lifetime.

A fun thing to do in Bruges is to take a boat tour, where you can see a different side of Bruges by boating its canals. The 30-minute boat tour fare is 8 Euros. The boat driver guides the tourists using French and English explaining the objects that are passed, such as: the Bell Tower of Our Lady's Church and St. Cathedral. Salvators. You can also see the unique cafes along the canal as well as the brewery. Belgium is very famous for its beer.
