Due to sandy natural conditions, only 4WD class vehicles are permitted. After the entry permit and camping is in your hands, you will be escorted by a transport ship to cross the Sandy Strait, with a travel time of less than 30 minutes.
Arriving at the island, immediately explore the wide and long beach while looking for the best area to pitch a tent. Usually, tourists choose a location behind the dunes, and under the trees. This will provide more privacy and security.
Fraser Island has more than 100 freshwater lakes, and one of the most famous is the clean and clear Lake McKenzie. The sand in this lake is also very fine.
The uniqueness of Fraser Island is that it has the only rainforest in the world that grows on sand dunes as high as over 200 meters above sea level.
You can also visit The Pinnacles, an area of sand cliffs with gradations of color formed over thousands of years.
