Nicosia is the last 'split' capital city in the world. Yes, physically, the city is purposely divided into two parts.
The capital city of Cyprus, Nicosia is two different parts of the region. The southern part of the city belongs to the Republic of Cyprus, while the northern part belongs to the Republic of Turkey, namely Northern Cyprus.

From the air, the shape of the old city of Nicosia is very unique. The old town is surrounded by a ring-shaped wall with eleven ornaments.
