Wat Xieng Thong was once used as the coronation site of the kings of Laos. This temple is the site of annual celebrations in Luang Prabang today. There was no significant construction in this temple, because it was left in its original form, only renovated on the roof and given gold leaf gilding. There are ornate mosaics in this temple such as a beautiful glass montage of the tree of life on the back wall. There is also a wheel of dharma depicted in gold on the ceiling of the Temple.
