The Hollywood Walk of Fame is one of the internationally recognized icons of Hollywood. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a prestigious sidewalk in the world that runs along Hollywood Boulevard. This sidewalk has a star decoration on it which contains the names of the most successful actors, producers, musicians and celebrities in history. Located in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is known as an industry icon in the entertainment industry that is never empty of visitors.

Each star is installed with a celebrity name, derived from their contribution in the entertainment world. The classic film camera symbol in the middle of the star represents a feature film character, the television antenna symbol represents the television industry, Phonograph recordings represent music or audio recordings, radio microphone images represent figures in the radio broadcasting field, while comedy mask symbols represent performing artists.

Most of the installed stars come from figures in the movie industry. This can be understood because Hollywood does live from the film industry.

The originator of the Walk of Fame idea was E. M. Stuart, who served as volunteer president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1953. Citing the Walk of Fame's official website, he proposed the idea of walking as a means of perpetuating popular people around the world.

It is not known where Stuart got the idea from. But one dining room at the Hollywood Hotel once had a star-studded ceiling with celebrity names on it. This is said to be the forerunner of the idea of placing artist names with stars on the sidewalk.

On February 8, 1960, the construction of the Walk of Fame began. The first to be placed was Stanley Kramer's on March 28, 1960 near the intersection of Hollywood and Gower. He was a well-known American film producer and director at that time.

When built, the Walk of Fame was designed to accommodate 2,518 stars. As of September 8, 2021, a total of 2,701 celebrity stars there.

The unique thing on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is that one character's name is on display instead of on the sidewalk. In fact, the plaque does not belong to a Hollywood artist but belongs to a boxer named Muhammad Ali.

Ali received a plaque with his name as a world boxer, but when the plaque was to be installed, he refused to install it on the sidewalk. The reason for placing the plaque on the wall is because Ali admits that he doesn't want his name to be trampled on by people who don't like him.
Not only artists and athletes, there are also astronaut names on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
