Hitachi Seaside Park is located just outside Hitachinaka City in Ibaraki Prefecture, and is approximately 120 km northeast of Tokyo. This tourist spot offers the perfect escape from the city crowds. In 1973 before it became a park, the land was used as an American military base, but was later returned to the Japanese government. After some deliberation about what to do with the land, the decision was made to convert it into a public park. For flower lovers, you will be fascinated when visiting this one tourist spot. The Change of Flowers in Every Season
Tulips can be seen on Ice Tulips in December and January. In Sareki Garden, visitors can enjoy Tiger Lili. This type of lilies can be seen throughout the year other than December and January in winter.
From mid-February to April in spring, the blooming lilies can be enjoyed by the visitors. And of course the Sakura flowers are the target of Japanese people and foreign tourists.
In the summer around the end of April, flower connoisseurs can see more than 250,000 tulips from 200 species of tulips of various colors and shapes. In summer, May, more than 4.5 million Nemophilia flower plants will bloom. These include lavender flowers with their distinctive purple color that can be enjoyed until mid-July. Don't miss white lily flowers with other bright color accents that bloom from early July to early August.
Hitachi Seaside Park is famous for its large-scale flowers that change with the seasons. In spring, the gardens look like colorful waves, as nearly 260,000 tulips and more than a million narcissus flowers decorate the area around the forest trails. At the same time, the broad hillsides near the park's waterfront border radiate a brilliant nemophilic blue.
Summer colors are also lovely with sunflowers and zinnias, and a refreshing view of the verdant kochia bushes on the hills. The kochia bush is a bright magenta as it enters autumn. Even winter offers a colorful scene with blooming ice tulips and Japanese apricot trees.
Do not visit Hitachi Seaside Park Park in winter, because the plants and trees in the park enter the dormant period, which is a period of plant rest so the flowers will bloom.
If you want to go to Hitachi, from Tokyo station or Uneo Station you can use the hitachi express train or you can use the Tokowa express train and stop at Katsuta station.
